Gallery 1516 Nebraska Biennial

I’m so excited to be included in the Gallery 1516 Nebraska Biennial Exhibition for the second time! This year I submitted the colored pencil portrait I created of my mom. This is my favorite drawing that I’ve created because it is of my mom.

The day that I took the reference photo, she did NOT want to pose for me. I think she is the most beautiful person in the whole world and I’m so glad she finally agreed. I caught her at the exact right moment. There is something about hyper-realistic drawings that adds something that a photo doesn’t- cameras can’t see feelings and nuances are missing.

I know that they have an amazing group of artists (over 100) that will have their work on display. The competition is tough and I’m honored to be grouped with some of the best artists in Nebraska. The public opening is October 3rd, 6-8 pm at Gallery 1516 in Omaha, Nebraska. I hope to see you there!
